SPAIN

Spain has been incorporated as a full member of the European Union in 1989, since then Spain’s economy and infrastructure have highly profited from the European market.

Spain is divided into several independent states of which Andalusia covers the southernmost part on the Mediterranean Sea.

ANDALUSIA

Andalusia itself is divided into 8 regions, its most important cities are the capital Seville, Granada with the Alhambra, Cordoba and its Mosque, Jerez and its sherry bodegas and of course Malaga on the Costa del Sol.

COSTA DEL SOL

The Costa del Sol is best known for it's holiday resorts Torremolinos, Fuengirola and of course Marbella the VIP address on the coast. Numerous well-kept beaches are an all-year-round tourist destination with an average of 326 days of sun each year.

MALAGA

Malaga - capital of the Costa del Sol - has a rich and unique history. Founded by the Phoenicians, it has been inhabited by the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans and the Moors, until it was reconquered in 1487 by the Catholic Kings forming today’s Spanish territory.

Throughout the city many historical monuments stand as tokens to the rich legacy held by Malaga. Most notably are the Cathedral, the Alcazaba (Moorish Castle), the fortress Gibralfaro, and the Roman Theatre. Today Malaga is a cosmopolitan city with theatres, cinemas, museums and Spain's second largest harbor.

Malaga has inspired great poets and artists. The city's most famous son is Pablo Picasso who was born in Malaga in 1881. His birthplace at the Plaza Merced has been converted into a museum honoring his life and work. Admission is free as well as access to all exhibitions: lifetime biography, art collection and video projections.

FERIA DE MALAGA

People in Andalusia are known for their carefree lifestyle, the most important thing is to meet friends and discuss everyday life while enjoying local food such as Tapas with a beer or a red wine.

This way of living is best reflected by the "Feria de Malaga" which takes place between the 2nd and 3rd weekend of August. It combines traditions with modern live, locals dance Flamenco in the streets while others dance to house music in the clubs.

BEACHES

Malaga itself offers various beaches where you will find lots of the typical Andalusian authentic seafood restaurants and bars.

Torremolinos is probably the best known holiday resort on the Costa del Sol. Over the last years the city decided to completely rebuild the 4km long beach walk. Today you can enjoy its new-won splendour, there is no more traffic passing by and it is much broader than before with lots of restaurants, bars and shops.

The motto of Marbella is 'A Way of Life', and certainly this luxurious resort seems to have it all. It is Spain's answer to St Tropez with well kept beaches, the famous "Puerto Banus" and the best night clubs around. The rich and beautiful can surely be found here.

Tarifa is the place to be for the surf addicted, wind is guaranteed to be strong, recommended only for experts! Here you will find the best natural white beaches with sand dunes as high as 15 meters.
